About Us
We stand for Oregon’s farm families.
Families for Affordable Food represents thousands of families and farms across Oregon who are concerned for the future of farming in Oregon and what that means for consumers at grocery stores, nurseries, ice cream shops, butcher counters and all the places we purchase Oregon’s diverse and unique agricultural products.
Oregon is famous for a variety of brands and products that flow domestically and globally. We want to preserve the availability of these beloved products.
According to Oregon Department of Agriculture, our state produces over 220 different commodities. We lead the nation in producing hazelnuts, grass seed, Christmas trees, pears, onions, and berries, among others.
Like all Oregonians, farm families are facing the pinch of higher costs: costs for supplies, labor costs, energy costs, and the ever-growing cost of doing business in Oregon.
Still, we care deeply for the land we work on, where our families play, and where our crops and animals grow. We are proud that Oregon is a leader in environmental stewardship and a place that provides the best protection, pay and benefits for our workforce.
But often times, Oregon farms are asked to bear a higher-burden of the costs than other states in upholding these values. So we fight to ensure that well-intended laws protect Oregon families rather than unnecessarily risk our farms, the workforce and all of our pocket books.
